Groups

Groups gather the binder’s users so you can give a whole team access at once instead of naming people one by one. Membership itself is set on the Users page, where the people are.

  1. Press + New group and give it a name. The name is how you recognise the group everywhere else — "Carpenters", "Site managers", "Night shift".
  2. Press Edit on a row later if the name needs changing.
  1. Go to the Users page.
  2. Open the user's row and add or remove groups in the detail panel — each change saves immediately. Or select several users and use Add to group to put them all in one group at once.
  1. Restrict a published topic to the group on Publish, so only its members see it in the apps.
  2. Or let the group start a sign-off from the Access tab on the Sign-offs page.
  1. Check topic access and sign-offs first — anything that granted access *to the group* stops applying.
  2. Press Delete on the row and confirm. The people keep their binder access and role; only the grouping goes.
  • A group carries no permissions of its own. It changes what its members can see, where the group has been given access; what they can do comes from their role.
  • Group membership does not grant binder access. The person must already be a member of the binder before it means anything.
  • A user can belong to as many groups as you like. The Groups column on Users shows them all.
  • Click a row here to see the members with their names and email addresses.

Membership belongs to the user, so it is edited on Users — one person at a time in the detail panel, or in bulk with Add to group.

What happens to topic access if I delete a group?

Section titled “What happens to topic access if I delete a group?”

A topic restricted to that group loses the assignment. Check Publish afterwards, or people may lose content you expected them to see.
